Rolling
Rolling bends sheet into a curve: a cylinder, a cone or a segment of one. Unlike bending, the curvature continues across the whole sheet.
How it works
The sheet passes between rolls that are pressed in further step by step. Because the bending is spread along the length, a continuous curve is formed rather than a crease.
Where it fits
Rolled parts are used for shells, drums, housings and transitions between round and flat. The seam is usually welded afterwards and finished if needed.
