Sheet metal bending
Bending turns flat sheet into the shape the product needs. The bending sequence decides whether a part can be made at all, which is why we look at it during preparation.

How it works
On a press brake a punch presses the sheet into a die and the material bends around a line. Every bend changes what is reachable for the next one, so the sequence and the position of the stops are part of the design rather than an afterthought.
Where it fits
Bending sits between cutting and assembly: it turns a cut sheet into an enclosure, a profile, a bracket or a housing. Design freedom lies mainly in the radius, the flange length and the space around the bend.
What we bend with
There are seven press brakes, so there is usually a machine free with the tooling your product needs, and a batch does not have to wait for one machine to be reset.
We bend up to a length of 4000 mm and up to a press force of 320 tonnes. Which combination of length, thickness and radius is achievable in your case depends on the part; raise it with your enquiry.

Frequently asked questions
What bending length and press force can you handle?
We bend up to a bending length of 4000 mm and a press force of 320 tonnes, on seven press brakes. Which combination of length, thickness and radius is feasible depends on the part; please include that in your enquiry.
Why does the bending sequence matter for the design?
Every bend changes the access for the next one. The sequence and the position of the back gauges are therefore part of the design, not something that comes afterwards. Most of the design freedom lies in the radius, the flange length and the space around the bend.
Can I calculate the price of press brake work online?
Yes. For laser cutting and press brake bending you can calculate a price online through Plaatweb. If the part is welded, machined or finished afterwards, or if you are unsure about material or thickness, send your drawing to Baas Metaal for a quotation.

What we need to quote
If something is missing we will ask. If you are not sure yet yourself, we will look at it with you.
- material and thickness
- the quantities involved
- a drawing: DXF, STEP or a dimensioned PDF
- whether the part still needs finishing or assembly
